How is everyone? I know it's been a long time since I've written here. I miss doing it. Things are so much different than they were a few months ago. I thought I would do a little update.
I am working as an RN in a Woman's Pre-op/Post-op area. We take care of all types of woman before their surgeries and then woman who are going home the day of surgery come back to us. C-sections, hysterectomies, D&C's, laparoscopies, breast surgeries, etc. I have always liked taking care of surgery patients. I like calming their fears and answering questions, I love starting IV's, I like helping them with their pain afterwards and teaching them how to care for themselves. I guess I just love it all. There is something about nursing - despite it's long hours, stressful situations, drama between employees, lack of time to eat and go to the bathroom - there's something else about it that I love. It's hard to put your finger on it, but it has to do with being needed and doing something worthwhile. It is fulfilling.
Then there is the time off. I have actual days off, where I don't have to do anything work related. I can actually clean my house, have time with family where I don't have to check my messages or orders, I can pursue some hobbies just for fun. It feeds the soul.
Do I miss yarn? Well, sometimes I miss the colors. Other than that, I think I burned myself out so badly that I don't honestly miss it much. Sometimes I question whether I gave up a successful business for this, but it doesn't take long for me to remember why I did it and not wonder that anymore.
I am thinking of doing a KAL/CAL for Christmas in the Facebook Group. Kind of like last year where we all picked a Christmas-y project to work on and showed pictures of our progress. I even have some prizes. It was fun last year...maybe this year too. The Facebook Group continues to grow despite there being no new yarn. I suppose everyone has found other sources for their yarn - there are so many gorgeous possibilities out there.
Thanksgiving is next week. I am thankful for each one of you! Even though you aren't customers, I still consider you friends. I hope everyone's holiday is full of things to be thanksful for!
